GERALDINE “GAWÖ:SID-TAH” GREEN LONGHOUSE LEADER AND FAITHKEEPER
A devoted educator of the Haudenosaunee traditions, Sid-tah was a leader in the Akwesasne Mohawk community and Seneca Nation. Sid-tah was a nationally recognized advocate for the leadership role of women in native cultures, meeting with First Lady Hillary Clinton on issues important to the Seneca Nation. She was a leader in the Newtown Longhouse, serving in the role of head women’s faithkeeper for the animal clans.
